Key Legal Resource Launched: English-Amharic Law Dictionary

In a groundbreaking achievement, the first-ever English-Amharic Encyclopedic Law Dictionary has been launched in collaboration between Addis Ababa University (AAU), the Federal Justice and Law Institute (FJLI), and Justice for All-PF Ethiopia (JFA-PFE). This comprehensive dictionary aims to provide a valuable resource for legal professionals, students, researchers, and beyond in Ethiopia.

The dictionary, which took four years to complete, covers a wide range of legal terminology in English and Amharic. On October 8, 2024, the English-Amharic Encyclopedic Law Dictionary was officially presented to the public in a special launch event by President of the Federal Supreme Court H.E. Ato Tewodros Meheret, Minister of the Ministry of Justice H.E. Dr. Gedion Timothewos, the Federal Justice & Law Institute Director Ambassador Degefe Bula, Ambassador of the Austrian Embassy to Ethiopia H.E. Dr. Simone Knapp representing the Donors Consortium, Addis Ababa University President Dr. Samuael Kifile, and President of Justice for All-PF Ethiopia Pastor Daniel G/Selassie. The event was attended by prominent legal scholars, government officials, and members of the academic and legal communities. The participants praised the efforts of the team involved in creating the dictionary and emphasized the importance of such a resource in promoting legal literacy and understanding in Ethiopia.
