Networking for better protection of children’s and women’s rights

Justice for All PF Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Authority for Civil Society Organizations, held a discussion forum on civil society organizations and government sectors’ networking for better protection of child and women’s rights on December 11-12/2023, in Adama JFA-PFE Center of Excellence for Peace & Democracy.

 
Ato Samson Biratu, Director General of the Civil Society Organizations Authority

Ato Samson Biratu, Director General of the Civil Society Organizations Authority, stated that civil society organizations working with women and children collaborate to enhance the benefits of women and children’s rights. It will play a role in bringing about significant change. The presence of such discussion forums creates capacity for the networks that are formed, and they will also be useful in strengthening the networks and carrying out activities that can bring about change by fully comprehending the purpose of the formed networks.

Ato Fasikaw Mola,Deputy Director General of the Civil Society Organizations Authority

The Deputy Director General of the Civil Society Organizations Authority, Ato Fasikaw Mola, presented a paper focusing on networking and the challenges they face, the different networking, and the legal frameworks governing networks. In his presentation, he stated that civil society organizations in the sector should discuss and agree on options for creating networks in order to strengthen the sector. He also stated that creating a network should not be viewed as a major goal in and of itself.

Judge Leuleselasie Liben

Judge Leuleselasie Liben presented a paper on protecting women & children’s rights. In addition, a joint coordinating committee was formed to establish a network of organizations working on advancing women’s and children’s rights.
