Justice For All-PF Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Supreme Court of the Tigray Regional State, held a consultation and capacity-building workshop on case flow management for judges in the Tigray region on December 4-5, 2023, in Mekelle City.
In his welcoming speech, Honorable Tsagaye Birhan (Ph.D.), President of the Tigray Region Supreme Court, stated that the training and consultation forum had previously been rescheduled for a few months because of financial constraints. We are here today thanks to the backing of Justice for All and the Federal Supreme Court. I can’t leave without expressing my gratitude for enabling us to come together in this way today and for fully funding the program in accordance with our request. Our people highly desire justice. I’d like to trust that we can use everything within our ability to serve in order to respond to this question.
His Excellence Mr. Getachew Reda, the Tigray Region’s Interim Governmental President, stated in his opening remarks that any meddling with our courts must be prevented. The role of our judges is critical to preserving the independence of the court. I want to assure you that the present administration will not interfere with the operation of the court. Despite difficult conditions, you have continued to serve society for the last two years. I continue to put my trust in you to work persistently to satisfy society’s thirst for justice. He concluded by expressing his appreciation to all who helped to make this much-needed forum a success.
Pastor Daniel G/Selassie, President of Justice for All PF Ethiopia, stated in his speech that over the last thirty years, major progress has been made to enhance the criminal justice system and correctional facilities throughout the nation. I want to express my gratitude to all of the districts’ and zones’ judges for their efforts to meet society’s demands for justice. I want to let you know that Justice for All will support and actively contribute to the region’s legal reform.
Following that, Menberetsehay Tadese (Ph.D.) presented a case flow management discussion paper during the workshop.
